Due to a scheduling conflict with members who are also on the Cancer Board, our meeting for Wednesday will instead be held Tuesday October 24th at the Sundown at 5:15pm.
Hopefully all will be free for this date/time. Let me know if there are any problems with the change.

Business Fair Dec. 3rd

Couple of new developments to the business fair. Instead of the smaller auditorium we'll be using the larger new one. The smaller is just too small for those already planning to display and hopefully the new-comers. Each displayer will be responsible for any and all cleanup needed for their areas at the end of the event. Also a flat rate will be charged for all who setup displays; $25.00, additionally if any want more than one 8" by 10" display area or table for their displays an additional $20 will be the fee. The original idea of charging a lower fee for Chamber members as an encouragement to the non-members to join in my opinion isn't enough reason to do so. Personally I am sure that a discount of $5 or $10 isn't enough to be entising in the first place, moreover if the event is successful even moderately so is in itself reason to join the Chamber. The simple fact that something new is happening, and more new and exciting things are in the offing is reason to join and be a part of the Chamber. We have to find a way to pay for events such as this and I can't imagine any business being burdened by a $25 fee to enable them to exhibit their business in such a positive way.
Barb Wardenburg has offered the use of 12 free standing rack/pole assemblies that she owns in exchange for her $25 setup charge, which I think is a reasonable and fair trade. I asked her to see if she could find out if we could rent additional rack/pole setups and to find out the price if any others would like the option of using them. Sherry Witte and Barb Wardenburg will be organizing, contacting businesses and hopefully with a little help from the rest of us this will be a great success. I for one am looking forward to the event, even though I originally had doubts, I'm starting to get excited as preparations are being started.
Please post/comment if you are able to offer help of any sort or have ideas that we may use in putting this event on.
I would also like to get your opinions on spending a bit more to advertise this first time event than has been previously discussed. Hey guys, we've got cash in the bank we aren't putting to good use drawing an insignificant amount of interest, I feel as if we should really promote this and spend a little bit more to do so..???
Tell me what you think.
